1/365: Our Story
Yes, you read that title correctly. This is the first picture of a new 365. No, it's not January 1st, but I miss my project 365 so much, that I simply couldn't wait until 2015.
For those of you who are new to my blog or following my work, a 365 is taking a picture a day. You don't need to be a photographer, and everyone chooses to do it for different reasons.
In 2013, I set out to do a 365 to learn more about my camera. I wanted to be forced to pick it up and learn. What happened? I ended up documenting my life in the most unexpected way, and ending the year having my own photography business. It was amazing.
At the end of 2013 I chose not to continue with another 365. It's a lot of work. I posted my pictures every.single.day. That meant taking the pictures, uploading, editing, organizing in folders, picking my favorite, uploading it and blogging about it. It's a crap ton of work and one heck of a commitment; so, I decided to take a break and start a 52. Boring! Totally abandoned that project!
Over the past few months, I've grown to really miss the 365. Some days, it was hard to find something to capture. I tried to challenge myself, I picked my camera up outside of photo shoots and really enjoyed the end result.
Two days ago, I took this picture. After Hannah's afternoon nap, she is always so still and sweet as she eats her snack. I couldn't resist capturing this moment sitting with her daddy.
I looked at this picture today and decided I need to do another 365. I told Dustin and he took a deep breath in without letting it out. "Are you sure you want to do that?" No, I'm not sure. We have so much going on in our lives, and I don't want this to add to my daily stress. What I want from it is to continue to document our lives. I don't want to stress about getting it uploaded, edited and blogged everyday. I just want the memories. I'll blog; sometimes daily, sometimes weekly, maybe twice a week... only when I can. Some days I may use a picture from another day, maybe I'll skip editing, and maybe I'll just use a cell phone shot. I'm breaking all the rules I want to this time around.
The first rule I'm breaking is that the first picture isn't from today. And I'm okay with that.
I hope you'll follow our story.
